Seminar ‘Innovative Development of the Territories of Baikal Region and Rural Settlemets Via Rural Foundations of Local Communities - 3D’ held at the ‘Baikal Dialogue’ III International Forum today

At the seminar effective forms and mechanisms for territories’ development already approved in Russia, Baikal Region in particular, were presented.

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Natural Resources, Nature Management Mikhail V. Slipenchuk took part In the event. He told the audience about the state and republican programs on territories’ development in the Republic of Buryatia that are already existing. According to the deputy’s opinion, it is necessary to develop funds for supporting small and medium business. ‘Social work is very important as well, - pointed out M. Slipenchuk. For instance, in Ozerny settlement local people are actively involved in social work, they make their environment better day by day.’

As an example of a successful and mutually beneficial for the state and for the citizen program Mikhail V. Slipenchuk mentioned the project ‘Social Herd’ that is being realized in the Republic of Buryatia now.

‘Thanks to the project more people got involved in farming, and that is substantial help for rural people and their families. I would like the project to start realize throughout the whole Baikal Region», -  Mikhail V. Slipenchuk pointed out.

Also the deputy suggested that handicraft art should be promoted more actively in the region: ‘Our republic is rich in traditions, in handicraft art. We should help people to develop it. This will give people additional jobs and opportunities to earn money».
