On August 22nd, 2014 in the framework of III International ‘Baikal Dialogue’ Forum an interregional meeting ‘On Baikal Region Development Strategy’ was held. Upon its results the representatives of the Buryatia Republic, Irkutskaya Oblast and Zabaikalsky Kray signed the protocol on joint development of the Baikal region.
The protocol was signed by the head of Buryatia Republic Vyacheslav V. Nagovitsyn, Governor of the Zabaikalsky Kray Konstantin Ilkovsky and first Deputy of Irkutskaya Oblast Government Nikolay Slobodchikov.
This protocol regulates the intention of the regions regarding their joint work on the Baikal territory development and officially supports the initiative expressed by the Plenipotentiary representative of the RF President in Syberian Federal District about the necessity of a special approach towards Baikal region development.
In accordance with this it is suggested that the working out of the subprogram: Social and Economic Development of Baikal Region’ will be part of the Federal target program ‘Economic and Social Development of the Far East and Baikal Region’.
The participants to the meeting also decided to support the Buryatia Republic proposal to make the project ‘International ‘Baikal Dialogue’ Forum an annual event with rotation of the place of its hosting – between three subjects of the Baikal region.
